2023 Winners of prestigious Zanda McDonald Award crowned

New Zealand’s Harriet Bremner and Australia’s Mitch Highett have been named winners of the prestigious Zanda McDonald Award in 2023, proudly supported by LAWD.

Established in 2014, the Award honours the legacy of Zanda McDonald, who was an inspiring and respected identity in the beef and livestock sector, and recognises and supports exceptional young professionals in agriculture.

Based in New Zealand’s Southland region on Jericho Station, Ms Bremner is a farmer, children’s book author, and health, safety, and well-being advocate. Mr Highett owns a cattle enterprise at Orange, New South Wales, and is the Founder and Managing Director of Bullseye Ag.

LAWD Senior Director, Col Medway, expressed the firm’s pride in supporting young people who are creating change within the farm sector.

“As proud sponsors of the Zanda McDonald Award, we’re continually impressed by the outstanding leadership qualities and enthusiasm exemplified by the award winners year after year,” Mr Medway said.

“Zanda made an endless effort to motivate others to pursue careers in agriculture and urged the industry to consistently enhance its performance. We’re honoured to be able to help continue his life’s work.

“Congratulations to Harriet and Mitch, we look forward to seeing what the future holds for two deserving winners!”

Each winner receives a prize package, including a tailored mentoring trip, education and training worth $10,000, and more.
